The incident occurred on 19th Street near Anaheim Avenue around 10:40 p.m. Friday.
According to police, the victim got out of his car to exchange insurance information when the 49-year-old woman ran him over and drove off.
The man was transported to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana.
Police tracked down the suspect's Honda sedan to a nearby apartment complex after a witness partially wrote down the female's license plate.
The woman was located and arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
No information on the victim's condition has been released.
