Word of the show's official cancellation came Monday. The "Hot 30" program was pulled from the air after the prank in December. Jacintha Saldanha, the nurse who answered and eventually transferred the call to Middleton's ward after thinking she was speaking to Queen Elizabeth II and her son, Prince Charles, was found dead days later in an apparent suicide.
Saldanha had actually spoken to the show's DJs, Mel Greig and Michael Christian, who were impersonating the queen and prince. Greig and Christian apologized for the call, saying they never expected they would be put through.
The Australian Associated Press reported Monday that Southern Cross Austereo, parent company of 2DayFM, said Greig and Christian will be back on the air eventually.
"We look forward to Mel and MC returning to work when the time is right, in roles that make full use of their talents," Southern Cross Austereo Chief Executive Rhys Holleran said in a statement.
Kate Middleton was hospitalized for hyperemesis gravidarum, a rare and severe morning sickness, related to her pregnancy. She was discharged Dec. 6.
