Body found in burning car in Westchester

LOS ANGELES

Authorities responded to the vehicle fire in the 5400 block of West 99th Street at about 4:30 a.m. and found a man's body in the passenger's seat.

Rommel Stallworth, who lives in the area, said he heard a car crash early in the morning.

"I heard an ambulance, and I looked down the street, and I saw a car on fire," he said. "I heard from the neighbors that there was another person with him running down the street."

Kyle Stanford said he saw two cars that had been damaged and believes the vehicle being investigated rammed into them.

"They had yellow tape wrapped around two vehicles ahead of mine, so the vehicle that obviously came through this way, it barely missed my car," Stanford said.

The body has not yet been identified, and the cause of the fire has not been determined. Investigators were seen combing through the vehicle for evidence.
