Anaheim pursuit suspect passed out at McDonald's drive-thru

ANAHEIM, Calif.

It all started at around 3 a.m. Saturday as deputies checked on a call about a driver who had passed out at a McDonald's drive-thru on Katella Avenue. When deputies tried to make contact with the man, he hit the gas and made a run for it. In the process, he rammed a patrol car and caused some damage to the McDonald's property.

The suspect proceeded to head north on Beach Boulevard, again ramming into patrol cars. During the pursuit, deputies opened fire and hit the man. He sustained non-life threatening injuries and is expected to be OK.

Authorities caught up to him at Ball Road and Gilbert Street, where they used the pit maneuver to get him to stop.

The driver was taken into custody. No one else was hurt.
