Redlands police arrest woman in stolen vehicle for 3 residential burglaries

REDLANDS, Calif.

Amanda Jasmine Smith, 23, of Redlands was arrested around 5:30 p.m. after officers spotted the female suspect driving a stolen car near Tennessee Street and Colton Avenue. The 1992 Honda she was driving had been reported stolen in Santa Ana.

Smith had been identified through neighborhood contacts as the suspect responsible for three burglaries in the 40 block of North Michigan Street and the 40 block of San Gorgonio Drive. The female suspect had been targeting residences in the Redlands area for the past month.

During the investigation prior to Smith's arrest, surveillance video had caught the female suspect in the area of one of the burglaries before and after the crime took place.

A stolen bag from one of the residential burglaries was found in Smith's possession following her arrest.

The 23-year old is facing burglary, possession of stolen property and auto theft charges. She is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail at West Valley Detention Center.
