405 Freeway construction: All lanes back open

LOS ANGELES

Metro shut down three of the five northbound lanes from Montana Avenue to Getty Center Drive Saturday so crews could work on the widening project.

At about 9 p.m. Saturday, one of the lanes reopened, but traffic remained heavy. The rest of the lanes reopened overnight. The lanes were supposed to close through 5 a.m. Monday.

Workers are moving the center median and are repaving and re-striping that 2.4-mile stretch of the freeway. The construction is part of the $1 billion Sepulveda Pass Improvement Project, which aims to create a 10-mile HOV lane along the 405 Freeway from the 10 to the 101.
