Oxnard resident Hugo Alaniz, 24, is accused of sexually assaulting a woman while she was passed out after a night of drinking.
The victim was at a nightclub in downtown Oxnard on February 15 at about 11 p.m. where she met Alaniz. The woman consumed several alcoholic beverages at the club, then left with Alaniz and acquaintances to go to an after-party at a nearby apartment.
The woman passed out at the apartment, and Alaniz then allegedly sexually assaulted her, according to Oxnard Police. Witnesses intervened and stopped him from further sexually assaulting her.
Oxnard Police detectives arrested Alaniz on Tuesday and charged him with rape of an intoxicated person. He was held on $100,000 bond.
Police investigators are concerned that Alaniz may have assaulted other victims in the past and are asking anyone with information to contact Detective Dale McAlpine at (805) 385-3921.
