Car slams into yard and catches fire in North Hollywood; 2 injured

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES

The crash occurred on Burbank Boulevard and Morella Avenue around 1:05 a.m.

Police say the driver of the new Mercedes was speeding when the car lost control on the freeway off-ramp to Burbank Boulevard. The Mercedes went airborne, hitting a pole and landing upside down in front of a house.

Susana Williams, who lives next door, came running out and saw the car on fire.

"So there's flames coming out the window, the car is turned upside down and I thought the trees were going to catch fire so I got these people out of this house," Williams said. "I thought it was going to blow up."

The driver and his passenger were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

No one inside the home was hurt.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
