A man and woman from Ontario were arrested in Ontario Wednesday for a robbery assault that took place at a JC Penney store in West Covina.

Ontario residents Roman Daniel Landero, 36, and Monica Belen Ortiz, 24, were arrested at about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday on the 1700 block of East D Street in Ontario. They were arrested for robbery and felonious assault.

The couple is accused of entering a JC Penney store on February 24 with two children and a baby stroller, placing items in the stroller, stealing a pair of shoes, and exiting into the West Covina Westfield mall. The suspects were identified by a citizen who saw surveillance photos taken during the incident.

A 7-month-old baby was found at the Ontario residence during the arrest. The child was turned over to a family member.

The two suspects were held on $500,000 bond.
