Antelope Valley man accused of attacking girlfriend, daughter w/ brick

LANCASTER, Calif.

Deputies responded to the 42200 block of 20th Street West Friday afternoon following an assault report.

Witnesses told deputies the man, identified as 29-year-old Omar Martin, hit both victims in the head with a brick several times. He then allegedly fled the scene in his car along with his 6-year-old son.

Martin was later tracked down at his home in the Quartz Hill area. Deputies surrounded the home and when Martin came outside, deputies rescued the 6-year-old and arrested Martin after a brief struggle.

He was booked on suspicion of attempted murder, assault on a peace officer and child abuse. His bail was set at $1 million.

His daughter suffered skull fractures while the condition of his 23-year-old girlfriend remains unknown.
