Grandfather shot, wounded in Santa Fe Springs robbery

SANTA FE SPRINGS, Calif.

Sheriff's deputies say the grandfather was in his vehicle in the 11500 block of Perkins Avenue with his 35-year-old girlfriend and 12-year-old grandson when an armed man wearing a black ski mask approached them and demanded money.

The gunman opened fire, striking the grandfather in the arm. He was transported to an area hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. The bullet broke through the windshield of the vehicle. No other injuries were reported.

Investigators say the victim gave the suspect about $14 in cash before the gunman took off running.
