Off-duty Riverside deputy allegedly makes threat while being arrested for DUI

RIVERSIDE, Calif.

Brett Pendleton, 36, was off duty when he was stopped on Highway 79 in Winchester for speeding on the morning of April 6.

The California Highway Patrol said Pendleton failed a sobriety test and threatened the arresting officer with harm or great bodily injury. Pendleton also allegedly damaged the CHP patrol car.

Pendleton posted a $5,000 bond and was released. He is on administrative leave from the sheriff's department.
