Jogger attacked by 2 pit bulls in Palmdale

PALMDALE, Calif.

The attack happened around 11 a.m. near the intersection of 12th Street and Palmdale Boulevard. Witnesses say two adult pit bulls got out of their yard and tackled the jogger, biting him repeatedly.

The victim screamed for help and several Good Samaritans rushed to help him, witnesses said. They say one man drove up in his truck and yelled for the victim to climb in. The jogger attempted to do just that while the dogs continued attacking him.

The victim was taken to the hospital and animal control seized the dogs.

Eyewitness News spoke to the dogs' owner, Dorothy Vidano. She said her daughter let them out to use the bathroom when the attack happened.

"He was jogging or something and I don't know why, they just got out. And I guess when he grabbed them, they were biting his arm, and she said that he was kicking them and he got bit on the arms and the legs," said Vidano.

Vidano says according to the victim's wife, he is going to be OK.

"I just want everyone to be OK," Vidano said, almost in tears.

Witnesses are calling this a brutal attack. They say the victim was lucky to get away alive.

"His whole arm was straight open, his rib cage, his skin was hanging, you could see a little bit, it was white. You could see he was all bit up everywhere expect his neck and his face," said Joaquin Flores.

The victim's exact condition is unknown.
