The fire broke out at Mulholland Highway, west of Las Virgenes Road. Los Angeles County Fire confirmed a plane was found near the fire. The plane was unidentifiable.
A search and rescue effort was under way in the area.
It was unclear how the accident happened. The FAA was on scene for an investigation.
Around the same time of the accident in Calabasas, a plane made an emergency landing on Westlake Golf Course in Westlake Village. The two incidents were believed not to be related.
