"It's nice to see the rain because we haven't had much rain this winter," said Rex Icenhour of Monrovia.
The rain is a drastic change from the sunny and warm weather that the Southland saw just a few days ago.
"Beautiful weather, we need the water here," said Joe Castro of Pomona.
Along with the precipitation were cool temperatures. Some admitted when they left their home in the morning, they had to pull sweaters and jackets out of storage.
The rain was blamed for several accidents on local freeways. A car skidded off the Crenshaw Boulevard ramp on the 105 Freeway in Hawthorne and landed on some bushes. The driver was transported to a hospital in unknown condition.
Monday was cool and windy, with temperatures in the mid-60s in the Los Angeles-Metro area, Orange County, the Inland Empire, Valleys and high desert. The mountains saw highs in the upper 40s. The rain is expected to stay through Tuesday.
