George Michael injured in London car crash

LONDON

The singer was reportedly the passenger in the car. Publicist Connie Filippello said in a statement that Michaels was suffered "superficial cuts and bruises" from the accident, which occurred on Thursday night.

She said no other vehicle was involved in the crash and declined to give details about where Michael was hospitalized or when he will be released.

According to Sky News, the crash occurred on the crowded M1 moterway northwest of London, and a different man in the crash had to be flown to a hospital for a head injury.

The former Wham! singer has had a number of car-related problems in recent years. In 2010, he was imprisoned for eight weeks after he crashed his Range Rover into a photo shop in London. He pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of drugs and possessing marijuana.

He also had received an earlier two-year driving ban for a separate drug-related incident.
