Los Angeles city attorney race: Mike Feuer wins

LOS ANGELES

With 100 percent of precincts reporting, Freuer had 62 percent of the votes and Trutanich had 38 percent.

Before all the votes were in, Trutanich conceded the race late Tuesday. Trutanich said he called his opponent to congratulate him. He told supporters that he leaves office knowing that he has done a great job.

Feuer finished on top during the March 5 primary, but fell short of the 50 percent needed to win the seat outright, forcing the runoff. Feuer ran for city attorney in 2001 but lost. He had said that his experience on the Los Angeles City Council and in Sacramento made him a better candidate.

Trutanich did not announce any plans for the future yet. The former prosecutor was a relative newcomer to politics when he was elected to his post in 2009. He ran for Los Angeles County district attorney last year and lost.
