Charles Ramsey, Ohio kidnap case hero, promised free burgers for life - report

CLEVELAND

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that Ramsey has been promised free burgers for life from more than a dozen Cleveland-area restaurants.

Ramsey was called a hero after helping 27-year-old Amanda Berry, 23-year-old Gina DeJesus and 32-year-old Michelle Knight break out of a house where they were held captive for a decade. The homeowner, Ariel Castro, is now facing kidnap and rape charges.

During media interviews that went viral online, Ramsey said that he was eating a Big Mac when he heard Berry screaming for help. He helped kick down the door, freeing Berry and her 6-year-old daughter.

The restaurant where Ramsey worked as a dishwasher also reportedly created a special burger in his honor.
