Authorities are searching for a suspect in the attempted kidnapping of an 11-year-old girl in the Tujunga area Sunday.

The alleged incident occurred in the 6600 block of Olcott Street around 2 p.m.

Detectives say the suspect followed several girls in his SUV as they walked near Mountain View Elementary School. He waited until one of the girls was alone and offered her a ride home.

When she refused, the suspect exited his vehicle and tried to force her into his car. She fought him off by kicking and screaming.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic male in his early 40s, standing 5 feet 3 inches tall with a slender muscular build. He had dark eyes and was nearly bald.

He was driving a dirty sun faded tan or burnt orange medium sized SUV with torn tan or grey interior seats and large rims and tires.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information was urged to call Los Angeles police at (818) 834-3115.
