An 11-year-old who was fatally stabbed in the Westlake district of Los Angeles Monday has been identified as Jai Shaun Lewis.

The incident happened at the boy's home on the 200 block of South Carondelet Street around 9 a.m.

Police say the boy's 26-year-old stepfather used a kitchen knife to stab Lewis several times. The boy was in cardiac arrest when he was transported to Children's Hospital Los Angeles. He succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
