Arrest made in robbery and sexual assault of Ventura clerk

VENTURA, Calif.

The incident occurred in the 700 block of East Main Street around 10:30 p.m.

Police said 27-year-old Tyrane White entered the business and demanded money from the clerk at the front counter. The victim then reportedly told White that there was not any money in the store. That's when, police say, the suspect punched the victim in her face, causing her to fall through an interior window.

White then dragged the victim into a masseuse room and sexually assaulted her before beating her in the face with a blunt object.

The victim was able to free herself and flee from the business. White fled on foot but was soon captured near Cemetery Park.

The victim was transported to Ventura County Medical Center where she was treated for her injuries and released.

White was booked for robbery, sexual assault, assault with a deadly weapon, and false imprisonment at the Ventura County Jail. He was also booked for an outstanding Parolee at Large Want for a prior incident of assault with a deadly weapon.

The investigation is ongoing. The object that was used to attack the victim was not found.

Anyone with information related to this incident or the suspect was asked to call the Ventura Police Department at (805) 339-4400.
