OTRC: 2 Chainz robbed at gunpoint, rapper cryptically Tweets about incident

Rapper 2 Chainz was involved in a scary incident on Sunday, June 9.

The "Birthday Song" rapper was robbed in San Francisco just hours prior to taking the stage for a performance, local authorities told the Associated Press.

The musician, whose real name is Tauheed Epps, was walking with five members of his entourage near downtown on Sunday afternoon, according to Sgt. Dennis Toomer. The group was approched by three men, one of which was holding a handgun.

According to police, one shot was fired as the rapper had his cellphone and wallet -- with credit cards and cash inside -- stolen.

While police confirmed the account to multiple outlets, the rapper took to his official Twitter account to post some crytpic Tweets regarding the incident, seemingly refuting the reports.

"Rule #1 if a rapper gets robbed people usually post items that has been taken. Rings, chains, watch , money etc. 2 answer that question," he Tweeted.

"Rule #2 if a rapper gets shot he usually go to hospital or dies," he posted later.

While the AP did report that one shot was fired, the outlet didn't specifically say that the suspects shot directly at the rapper.

The Atlanta-based performer, who is known for songs such as "The Morning" and "No Lie," was in the Bay Area to perform at KMEL-FM's annual Summer Jam concert in Oakland. Despite the scary incident, 2 Chainz still took the stage and performed at the event.
