Garden Grove man arrested for attempted murder after stabbing estranged wife

GARDEN GROVE, Calif.

Police responded to a stabbing call on the intersection of Beach and Garden Grove boulevards around 3:52 p.m.

Responding officers found a 41-year-old female suffering from a stab wound to her neck. The victim was transported to University of California Irvine, Medical Center and underwent emergency surgery. Her identity has not been released but she is expected to survive.

During the investigation, officers learned the suspect was the estranged husband of the victim. Tai Treiu, who was last seen fleeing the scene on his bicycle, was identified as the suspect by the victim and family members.

Treiu, 54, was arrested for attempted murder Tuesday after he was detained by family members of the victim near the corner of Euclid Street and Westminster Avenue.
