Body found at Polliwog Park in Manhattan Beach

MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif.

The body was discovered near a baseball diamond in Polliwog Park around 3:30 p.m. According to detectives, city workers were moving a dirt pile when they spotted a suspiciously wrapped object. Investigators say the crew had noticed the bag earlier in the day but didn't stop to investigate.

They notified Manhattan Beach police, who determined it was a human body.

Authorities believe the victim was killed somewhere else and dumped at the park. At this point, they don't know the sex, race or age of the victim, but city workers reportedly told detectives it was a man with gloves on.

It will be up to the corner to identify the victim and determine how the person was killed and when.

Polliwog is an extremely popular and busy park, and investigators are hoping the public may be able to provide some vital clues.

Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
