Chase suspect's dog shot, killed by LAPD; dog attacked, bit officer

A Los Angeles police officer shot and killed a dog in the West Adams District after it attacked and bit him.

Officers from the LAPD's South Gang Unit were chasing a stolen car suspect when the suspect went into his yard on West 24th Street on Friday.

That suspect released one of his dogs, which attacked and bit the officer. That's when the officer opened fire, killing the dog.

The suspect was taken into custody and the injured officer was taken to a local hospital for treatment. His bite wounds are not considered serious.
