South Los Angeles suspicious fires spark investigation

SOUTH LOS ANGELES

Two of the fires were considered suspicious, as fire officials continue their investigation.

The first fire broke out around 1:45 a.m. after a truck with a camper shell went up in flames. Authorities say this fire was not suspicious, and it was likely caused by electrical problems with the truck.

The second fire happened about 15 minutes later, when a woman reported hearing something outside her house near Broadway and Gage Avenue, then saw smoke. That woman hurt her hand while trying to get away from the house.

The last fire was a car fire, which was set around 2:15 a.m.

No other injuries were reported, and there were no suspects.

Officials are still trying to determine if the last two fires are related and if arson was involved.
