Memorial service held for slain OC woman

TUSTIN, Calif.

On Saturday, her loved ones boarded a boat off the coast of Corona Del Mar to spread her ashes in the sea. According to her family, the ocean is where Brittany loved to spend most of her time.

Her ashes were dropped in the ocean in an envelope along with Hawaiian leis as dolphins greeted her grieving family.

The 25-year-old had been living in Hawaii on the Big Island when she was murdered. Her family says she had moved to Hawaii to teach yoga.

During a memorial at Unity of Tustin Spiritual Center, her brother shared fond memories of Brittany. She was remembered with songs, poems, and loving words.

"The way she died and all that, you know, we'll deal with that down the road," said Ted Royal, Brittany's father. "For today, its just celebrating a life that was so dear to us and that we miss so much."

Brittany was the oldest of three children.

Hawaii police are still searching for Brittany's 22-year-old boyfriend Boaz Johnson who has been missing ever since. The two reportedly went camping before she was found murdered. An autopsy revealed she had been strangled.
