Suspicious device shuts down 101 Freeway in Woodland Hills

WOODLAND HILLS, LOS ANGELES

Caltrans officials were landscaping along the freeway at about 9 a.m. when they discovered a capped pipe. The object was deemed suspicious, and police and bomb squad authorities were called to the scene.

Eastbound lanes were reopened at about 11 a.m., and the westbound lanes were reopened shortly after, at about 11:10 a.m. The suspicious device was determined to be harmless, according to the California Highway Patrol.
