Plane hits power lines, crashes near Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.

The pilot and the passenger managed to walk away from the accident uninjured.

Kern County fire officials responded to a report of a plane down near Old River Road and Bear Mountain Boulevard at around 12:15 p.m.

The ultra-light type aircraft reportedly hit multiple high voltage power lines, knocking over power pole and causing damage to four additional poles.

Responding crews found the aircraft on fire and shortly extinguished the blaze.

Officials said nearly 400 PG&E customers temporarily lost power Saturday following the crash.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
