L.A. County Lifeguard Captain Kyle Daniels said it was probably the same group of sharks that has been seen. The sharks are in the 4- to 7-foot-long range.
Daniels said lifeguards saw what they believed to be two great white sharks on Monday. El Porto beach in Manhattan Beach was closed briefly July 9 when a juvenile great white shark was seen in the area.
The sharks are juveniles and are likely feeding on fish along the surf break line about 25 yards from the beach, Daniels said.
No close encounters with the sharks have been reported other than nearby swimming. Lifeguards have been monitoring the activity and informing beachgoers. No signs were posted.
Monterey Bay Aquarium personnel have been tracking the sharks in order to tag them for research before releasing them.
Sharks have been documented in the South Bay since at least the 1930s.
