Toyota recalling 369,000 vehicles worldwide

TOKYO

The first recall involves Lexus RX400 and Highlander models, as well as the Harrier and Kluger hybrids in Japan. The carmaker says the inverter system may cause the alarm to go off and prevent the hybrid from running. Some 141,000 vehicles are being recalled in the U.S. and 15,000 in Japan.

The second recall is for the Lexus GS350, IS350, Crown and Mark X models, including 106,000 vehicles in North America, and 59,000 vehicles in Japan. Toyota says the bolts may loosen, causing the engine to stall. An early warning sign includes an abnormal noise just after start-up.

No accidents have been reported in any of the recalled models. Vehicle owners will be notified about the recall through first-class mail, Toyota said. You can also get information from www.toyota.com/recall.
