Former San Bernardino officer arrested, allegedly violated rights of 2 prostitutes

LOS ANGELES

Jose Jesus Perez, 46, of Menifee, was arrested Thursday in Denton, Texas. The charges state Perez allegedly forced the two women to perform sex acts while he was in uniform and/or carrying a gun.

The two women told investigators they had engaged in the acts demanded by Perez because they feared for their well-being due to his status as an officer, according to a federal four-count indictment unsealed Thursday.

Perez was expected to make his initial appearance in a Texas federal court Friday. Each of the four counts in the indictment carries a statutory maximum penalty of life in federal prison.
