The Monrovia man accused of making threats against several schools and hospitals in the San Gabriel Valley has been charged.

Prosecutors on Thursday charged Gerardo Cortez, 26, with making criminal threats and falsely reporting an emergency.

The threats began Sept. 9 and continued over the course of several days. Three schools, four hospitals and a mall went on lockdown after calls containing violent threats.

Bail is set at $300,000. Cortez is due back in court in two weeks.
