Long Beach house fire injures firefighter

LONG BEACH, Calif.

Authorities were dispatched to the single-story home in the 2400 block of Roswell Avenue around 6 a.m.

Firefighters found the house and attic fully engulfed in flames. An interior search and fire attack was quickly initiated.

One firefighter was burned on his ears, neck and knees and taken to Long Beach Memorial for evaluation. He was then transferred to the USC Burn Center where he was treated and released.

No other injuries were reported. The occupant of the home and his dog were able to get out of the burning home safely.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. The investigation is ongoing.
