The Battleship Iowa will remain open during the federal government shutdown and will give active military and veterans free tours.

The Pacific Battleship Center, which runs the site, said it would remain open for the duration of the shutdown since it is a nonprofit independent organization.

Veterans and active military with identification will receive the regularly priced $18 tours for free for the duration of the government shutdown.

Battleship Iowa, located on the Los Angeles waterfront, is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. The ship is docked at 250 South Harbor Boulevard in San Pedro.
