Los Angeles City Fire Department honors fallen firefighters

HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES

The service in Hollywood commemorated 263 members of the L.A. Fire Department who have been killed in the line of duty over the years.

Also honored were the 19 members of the Granite Mountain Hotshots, who died battling a fire in Arizona back in June.

"I want to thank every firefighter here, from our newest recruit to our chief, each one of whom wears the uniform with incredible commitment, dedication and dignity," said L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti.

A new sculpture was unveiled at the ceremony - a glass badge donated in honor of firefighter Glenn Allen, who died in 2011. The sculpture will remain on display at the LAFD Museum in Hollywood.
