The LAPD says it all started sometime before 7:30 p.m. when officers encountered a man who may have been armed in the area of Magnolia Boulevard and Satsuma Avenue.
When the man took off, officers pursued him on foot. During the chase, one of the officers was injured while trying to scale a chain-link fence. The officer was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities said no shots were fired and there was not an altercation between the suspect and officers.
Police set up a perimeter to look for the suspect, and the neighborhood was locked down.
