LAPD searching for woman allegedly kidnapped by ex-boyfriend

EL SERENO, LOS ANGELES

Karen Pineda, 22, and the suspect, Jose Luis Marin, 28, were last seen near the 4000 block of Huntington Drive in El Sereno around 7 p.m.

Authorities say Pineda was seen asking Marin to leave the area because police had been called. According to detectives, the investigation revealed that Marin shoved Pineda into her mother's vehicle after an argument and then drove away with her.

Investigators describe Marin as Pineda's ex-boyfriend, but one of her friends, Karla Corea, says the relationship was ongoing.

"She used to come to my house and say that they would get in fights and they would make up, but they've been together for a long time already. She said since she was 16," said Corea.

Pineda's mother, who witnessed the kidnapping, called police. Now they're hoping the public will help them find Pineda.

"Hopefully she is OK. I mean it's her boyfriend, and hopefully he doesn't do anything to her," said Corea.

Pineda is described as a Hispanic female, 5 feet 1 inch tall, 170 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. She was wearing an orange tank top and blue jeans on Friday.

Marin is described as a Hispanic male, 5 feet 7 inches tall, 170 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He has a tattoo of a spider on one of his elbows and the name "Matthews" and skulls on his back.

Police say the two were last seen in a silver 2004 4-door Nissan Altima with license plate number 6MPU056.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the victim or suspect was asked to contact the LAPD at 1-877-527-3247.
