Gunman sought in deadly Ventura shooting

VENTURA, Calif.

Ventura police responded to Ramona Street and Ventura Avenue at 9:40 p.m. for reports of a shooting. When they arrived, officers located the victim with a gunshot wound.

The male victim was transported to Ventura County Medical Center where he later died. His name and age have not been released.

Investigators say they have learned that the victim was walking in the area when a dark-colored SUV occupied by four males stopped near him. The suspect got out and shot the victim. The SUV then took off and was last seen traveling eastbound on Ramona Street.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic male, in his early 20s, standing 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a white T-shirt and dark shorts.
