Emma Thompson marks hand, footprints at TCL Chinese Theatre

The actress joked that she had to throw out her shoes because they were covered in cement.

At the Thursday ceremony, Thompson reminisced about visiting the theater when she was just a teenager and being blown away by all the celebrity signatures.

"For me to be here now feels not at all real. I can't tell you what it's like," she said.

She was joined by her co-stars of the upcoming film, "Saving Mr. Banks," including Tom Hanks. The movie hits theaters in December.

Hanks joked that Thompson should leave England and move to the United States.

"Los Angeles and Hollywood needs your 'Sense and Sensibility,'" Hanks quipped.

Thompson wrote the screenplay for the 1995 film, "Sense and Sensibility," based on the Jane Austen novel. Thompson's work earned her an Academy Award for best screen play.
