Manhattan Beach arson suspect caught on tape

MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif.

A suspect set approximately six fires on the campus of Robinson Elementary School at 80 Morningside Drive between 12:24 a.m. and 1:14 a.m. on Sunday.

Surveillance video shows a man described as white or Hispanic, between 18 and 35 years old, standing between 5 feet 5 inches and 6 feet tall, with a medium build and dark hair, approaching the campus.

The suspect can be seen trying to start a large fire on the school grounds. He successfully set fire to a bulletin board outside a classroom that burned for about five minutes, police said. Other fires set burned for a short amount of time.

The suspect is seen in the video sitting on a school bench watching the bulletin board burn. After that fire burned out, the suspect left the campus.

No vehicle is seen in the video.
