Young football players sickened in Las Vegas; parents want answers

LAS VEGAS

The group was in Las Vegas for a tournament last week, when nearly 100 players, coaches and parents became sick -- including 18 kids from the Tiny Mites. They were suffering from severe flu-like symptoms -- vomiting, cramps and fevers -- and several had to be hospitalized.

Even so, the Tiny Mites went out Saturday and won the title.

The parents say everyone who got sick was staying at the Rio Hotel and Casino, and they're looking for some answers.

"Now we are doing our best to figure out what it is that made everybody sick, to pinpoint the cause, and to see what the Rio's going to do about it; to see what the Las Vegas Health Department is going to do about it, but we want them to take some kind of action," parent Annalisa Johnson said.

Health officials say it could have been norovirus, but they don't yet know for sure.
