Ventura suspicious death investigation underway

Authorities say they are investigating a suspicious death in Ventura.

The Ventura Police Department received a call just after 9 a.m. Sunday regarding a possible battery victim in the 1700 block of South Victoria Avenue.

Officers responded to that location. The victim, who was only identified as a transient, was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of death is not yet known.
