Firefighters responded to the 12000 block of West National Boulevard around 8:33 p.m. and found a female suffering from a stab wound in the abdomen.
The victim was transported to a local hospital and is expected to survive.
Police say the suspect took a computer from the residence and may have been driving a white pick-up truck.
LAPD officials were canvassing the industrial area and gas station near the victim's home because they believe she may have been followed.
