A series of smaller aftershocks, ranging from 3.4-magnitude to 2.5-magnitude, hit the area about 30 minutes later, according to the USGS.
4.7-magnitude earthquake hits near Lone Pine
LONE PINE, INYO COUNTY, Calif.
The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake hit at 5:39 a.m. 32 miles south of Lone Pine. There were no immediate reports of damages or injuries.
