The shooting happened Tuesday morning in the Barry Farm section of the city. The man was in obvious pain, but he is expected to be OK and his Christmas spirit remained strong.
"Merry Christmas! I'm glad I got hit and no one else got hurt. I really am, for real," he said.
He wanted to continue with the toy giveaway, but paramedics insisted he go to a hospital for treatment.
No arrests have been made. Police are still looking for the person who fired the pellet gun.
