Hospital lets soldier dad watch birth via Skype

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla.

Many hospitals do not allow any kind of video or Skype inside operating rooms, but a hospital in Port St. Lucie, Fla., made an exception for Genevieve Rasik, a mother of three whose husband is in the Army overseas.

Rasik was anxious about having her child without her husband, but says having him on Skype was actually incredibly comforting.

"I'm lying on the table and I turned over to my left and he's standing right there and he says, 'You can do this honey. You can do this.' I hope that our story can help other military wives or begin to open a conversation in the medical community that we should allow this," said Rasik.

As for dad, he won't get to meet his son in person until he comes back to Florida in the spring.
