Temecula police impersonation suspects arrested

TEMECULA, Calif.

An adult and five juveniles were arrested on Friday. The adult was identified as 18-year-old Mason Gonzalez of Temecula. Three of the juveniles were released to their parents, while two were booked into juvenile hall.

Deputies say on at least two occasions, drivers in parked cars in Temecula were startled when a car suddenly pulled up them, and people identifying themselves as police ordered them out of their vehicles.

Authorities said the suspects would use high-powered flash lights and electronic megaphones during the incidents. Investigators say these incidents were considered to be pranks, and there were no attempts to harm or rob the victims.

After ordering the victims out of their car and telling them to lie face down on the pavement, the suspects would speed off.

Officials believe there are at least four to five similar cases committed by these suspects that were not reported to the police. If you have any information about these cases, you're urged to contact the Temecula Police Department at (951) 696-3000.
