Suspect surrenders after breaking victim's legs with vehicle

FILLMORE, Calif.

Rosario Palmerin, 31, was engaged in an argument with another person on the 3900 block of Telegraph Road in Piru at about 5:15 p.m. on December 26, according to the Ventura County Sheriff's Department.

Palmerin got into his vehicle and put it in reverse, then suddenly drove forward, striking the victim and causing fractures to both the victim's legs, the department said. Palmerin then fled the scene.

Palmerin made arrangements through his attorney to turn himself in on Dec. 29. He was taken into custody by Fillmore deputies without incident. Palmerin was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and was held on $1 million bail.
