Wal-Mart recalls table-chair set after finger amputation injuries

LOS ANGELES

The Mainstays five-piece card table and chair sets can collapse unexpectedly, posing a fall hazard and risk of finger injury - including finger amputation. Approximately 73,400 sets are involved in the recall.

The company says it has received reports of one finger amputation and three fingertip amputations. Eight other injuries were also reported including sprained or fractured fingers and a sore back.

Wal-Mart advised customers to stop using the set immediately and return it for a full refund.

The sets were sold nationwide and online from May 2013 through November 2013 for about $50.
